“Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of March to September”. – A quote by JENNY HAN.
“Summertime is the best of what might be”. – A quote by CHARLES BOWDEN.
India is a beautiful country with all four seasons. Also a highly populated country with greenery, intense heat and rainfall.  The climate varies from one season to another. Our body should get adapted to all seasons as it is a natural change happening all through the year.
How does a person prove the fitness? A fit body is one that gets easily adapted to climatic change such as scorching brightness of sun, the cool breeze or rainy days.  Summer in India is hot and humid with temperature ranging from 30 to 45 degrees in the most parts of the country.
March is the right month to think about how to overcome the summer heat in a smooth manner. This is the right time to share summer tips to create an awareness for the parents to train their kids to get along this season.

  • Avoid displeasure mood:
  • Have you ever asked your child which season would you like? I do not know whether you experienced it, generally child says monsoon, the rainy season. Do you know why?  A child always says that I would like to play in rain, getting drenched is the most joyous mood for me as a kid, expressed my happiness by jumping and screaming but we as parents believe that kids catch cold and fever. The same time when summer starts slowly, the heat makes the child get irritated even while waking up in the morning, doing homework without an air conditioner, the time when the outdoor play is over. The only reason is since we sweat profusely. Make the children understand it is a natural change happening around the world and adapting with the right mindset is important.

  • Exclusive summer clothing:
  • It is important to dress up our children in loose, comfortable and cotton clothing. Wearing cotton clothes is the best outfit for our children as it the only fabric that absorbs the sweat. Some children wear synthetic fabric, unknowingly scratches the body make wound as it does not absorbs sweat and make a mess and spoils the mood of children. In appropriate fabric is a major reason for itching and rashes where many parents do not know the fact. Different models of dress for both boys and girls made of pure cotton fabric is available at stores or online for the children.

    1. More liquid and less solid:

A long break for children in India comes in the month of April and May, the peak summer starts and the intense heat makes it exhausting to be outdoors. Generally, we keep variety of snacks and prepare food at home depending upon the family members. The latest and modern trend is we eat whatever is available not thinking the health issues we face later. Summer is a season to follow a diet which keeps our body cool to avoid health issues. What do you think health issues in summer are? Urinary infection, headache, stomach ache, excessive sweat, rashes, blisters and allergies are the common health issues we face. Modify your diet by adding more of water content fruits and vegetables, fresh juice, coconut water and drinking adequate water. Say yes to more liquids at summer is my thought.

  • An opportunity for successful learning:
  • Summer is a long break away from academics for children in India. A child should be encouraged to lead a balanced day even at home. Some may not know what a balanced day is, it is a spread of learning, playing, eating and sleeping. Encourage your child to follow all 4 even during the holidays.  It is a wrong assumption that a child need not put pressure at any activity during the break such as waking up early, doing some academic activity, learning new skills etc.…  Plan a holiday with your family members apart from that train your child some good habits and encourage to learn mental and physical activities such as spoken English, mental Math, art, drawing, coloring, karate, swimming, dancing, singing and basic household chores.

  • Create bonding:
  • Summer is the right time to develop the bond among family and friends as it’s a vacation time. Daily routine varies from one person to another person in a family as it is a working day. I would like to give examples, children eat food in a different time, children go to bed early to wake up early to go to school, hectic homework schedule, apart from school hour’s children attend various classes and tend to stay away from parents, and working parents follow different schedules, planning an official trip spending less time with family.  We get ample time only during summer break to spend time closely with each other. Identify an activity like playing a board game or doing art n craft activities like making a book mark, or doing science experiments or going to the park or temple. This special activity should be done consistently make your child feel special.
Although the onset of summer agitates most working parents due to a hectic schedule, the ideal way to approach is described above. Do follow these tips and share your comments.
